Open Call for Abuja-Based Artists:

Kolanut Gallery is delighted to announce its inaugural open call for visual artists as part of the gallery’s official opening in Abuja. This exhibition is more than a showcase — it is an invitation to build a creative community from the ground up.

Kolanut Gallery is founded on the belief that art thrives where community thrives. As we open our doors, we want to celebrate the artists who shape the cultural landscape of Abuja every day. This open call is an opportunity to gather, connect, and uplift the diverse voices that make this city vibrant.

We welcome artists of all ages, working across all mediums, and at every stage of their creative journey in Abuja. Whether you are emerging, self‑taught, or established, your perspective matters here.

Eligibility

  • Open to artists currently residing in Abuja only
  • All ages and career levels are welcome
  • All mediums accepted (painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, installation, digital art, mixed media, etc.)

Artwork Requirements

To ensure a balanced and accessible exhibition layout, the following size limits apply:

  • 2D works: Maximum 3 feet on the longest side
  • 3D works: Maximum 4 feet in height

 

Submission Guidelines

Applicants must submit the following in one single PDF document (no Word files will be accepted):

  • A short artist statement on the proposed works (maximum 200 words)
  • A brief artist bio (maximum 200 words)
  • Contact information (email, address and phone number)
  • Full artwork details: title, medium, dimensions, year, and price with image thumbnail

Also submit.

  • 1-2 images of each proposed work (JPEG) in high resolution but not larger than 2MB each. No more than 3 artworks can be proposed.

Each image attached must carry its title and artist name for easy recognition. e.g., TITTLE_YOUR NAME

Important Dates

  • Submission Deadline: May 30th, 2026
  • Notification of Selection: June 15th, 2026
  • Drop-off works at gallery: June 15th to June 20th
  • Exhibition Opening: July 2026

 

Important Information to note

  • All selected works must be delivered to the gallery in a ready‑to‑hang or ready‑to‑display condition. The gallery assumes no responsibility for framing or any other preparatory work.
  • Selected works must arrive at the gallery fully prepared for installation. The gallery will not provide framing or additional preparation.
